The handyman
your block
recommends.
Insured. Local. Up-front pricing. Mounting, drywall, doors, fixtures, and the small fixes nobody else seems to call back about — usually within the same week.
What I fix,
at honest prices.
Real prices, listed below. The minimum visit is $120 (covers the trip + first hour). Materials at cost plus 15% — I always show the receipt. If a job runs into something I didn't expect, I stop and call you before continuing. No mystery invoices, no “while I'm here” upsells.
Don't see your job? Hourly is $65/hr after the $120 minimum — billed in 30-minute increments. Text me a photo and I'll quote it back the same day.
Three steps,
no surprises.
- i.You text
Send 2–3 photos.
A quick description, a few photos, your zip code. That's enough for me to give you a real number — usually within a few hours.
- ii.I quote
In writing, by text.
Flat-rate when I can, hourly with a clear ceiling when I can't. Includes what's covered, what isn't, and an honest ETA.
- iii.I show up
On time. Cleaned up.
Clean drop cloths down, dust contained, and a walk-through before I leave. Pay by Zelle, Venmo, card, or cash.

The honest stop sign.
Illinois licenses some trades for a reason. If your job needs one of these, I'll point you at someone licensed for it — quickly, and at no charge.
- Plumbing pipeworkCutting pipe, water heaters, repiping, drain modifications. Illinois requires a licensed plumber for any plumbing system work.
- Electrical wiring inside Chicago city limitsChicago requires a city electrical contractor license for any wiring work. I do fixture swaps in suburbs where it's permitted; not in Chicago proper.
- Roofing replacementIDFPR roofing contractor license required in IL. I'll do a single tarp or refer you to someone bonded for the real job.
- Gas line work, HVAC, structural changesSpecialized trades. I won't touch them — but I know a few people who do them well.
- What I do bestMounting, assembly, drywall, doors, locks, fixture swaps where allowed, painting, caulking, deck staining, gutters, smart-home installs that don't need new wiring.

“Pending — replace with a Google review quote about a real job. Keep it 1–2 sentences. Look for ones that mention the job + the experience.”
“Pending — third placeholder. Mix in property managers / real-estate agents alongside homeowners as you collect them.”
Asked often.
Is there a minimum charge?
$120 minimum, which covers the trip and the first hour. After the first hour, it's $65/hr in 30-minute increments. The minimum applies to every visit so a quick job that takes 20 minutes is still $120 — drive time and tools loaded count.
Do you bring materials, or do I?
Either works. For specific items (a particular faucet, a TV mount, IKEA furniture), it's faster and cheaper if you supply them. For consumables (drywall mud, screws, anchors, caulk, paint touch-ups), I bring my own and bill at cost + 15%, with the receipt.
How do I pay?
Zelle, Venmo, credit/debit card (Square), or cash. Payment due at completion of the job. You'll get a written invoice either way.
Are you insured?
Yes — $1M / $2M general liability through a licensed Illinois carrier. Happy to send a Certificate of Insurance for property managers, condo associations, or anyone who needs one before work starts.
Why don't you do plumbing or Chicago electrical?
Both are licensed trades in Illinois. A licensed plumber spends years training for the work, and Chicago has its own electrical license layer on top of state rules. Doing that work without a license isn't fair to you or to the licensed pros who put their name on it. I'll happily do allowed adjacent work — like installing the faucet you've already had a plumber rough in — and refer the licensed parts to someone good.
How fast can you usually come out?
Inside the primary ring, usually within the same week — sometimes the next day. Larger jobs and the busier seasons (April–September) book a little further out, so it's worth texting early.
